IDEX 2023 International Arms Expo opens in Abu Dhabi News

Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, who visited the exhibition on the opening day, said that international interest in Russian weapons is now heightened in view of their effectiveness within the framework of the SVO.

The exhibition will continue until February 24. The enterprises of our military-industrial complex presented more than 200 full-size samples of weapons and equipment, ammunition, equipment. A unique exhibition with an area of more than 800 m². m organized “Rosoborexport”. A number of new products are presented by companies that are part of the Rostec State Corporation.

For example, for the first time, a control system unit for the Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher system is being demonstrated. It was created on the basis of a strapdown inertial navigation system and can set for each individual MLRS projectile not only the flight range, but also its trajectory. The firing accuracy of the Tornado-S shells is 15-20 times higher than that of the shells of its predecessor, the Smerch MLRS.

122mm unguided rockets for the Tornado-G MLRS are also on display. They allow you to destroy targets behind folds in the terrain (reverse slopes, gorges, etc.) and in the mountains. The destruction efficiency of these rockets is several times higher than that of standard unguided rockets of the Grad system.

Another IDEX 2023 first was the 57mm round 53-UOR-281U with a fragmentation tracer. It is designed to fire at air targets, as well as unarmored vehicles and manpower. This ammunition is applicable with a unified combat module placed on land chassis for various purposes and on Navy ships.

Rostec State Corporation’s Roselectronics holding presented for the first time the 1K144-E small-sized recognition and signaling complex for covert surveillance. He is able to detect enemy ground manpower and equipment, classify objects, count their number and determine the direction of movement, while remaining completely invisible.

The composition of 1K144-E includes seismic, infrared and magnetometric sensors with a size of up to 20 centimeters and weighing from 150 to 600 grams. They are buried in the ground, camouflaged in the ground and provide continuous operation from built-in batteries for up to 30 days. The deployment time of the complex does not exceed 5 minutes.

Sensor information is transmitted over a radio channel and displayed on the operator’s monitor as an electronic map of the area with the location of the detectors themselves and the objects they have detected.

The equipment “sees” moving, determines their type, calculates the number and trajectory of movements targets. The range of the complex is as follows: for infantry – 30 meters, for wheeled vehicles – up to 120 meters, for tanks or infantry fighting vehicles – up to 200 meters.

For the first time abroad, are presented: a high-precision ORSIS sniper rifle chambered to the 12.7×99 NATO standard, a flamethrower in MPO-A thermobaric equipment, a sample of the Chukavin sniper rifle (SHF), as well as several new optical sights.

Also, the latest air-to-surface guided missile, known as Izdeliye 305E, is being shown to customers in the Middle East for the first time. This missile has shown excellent results in the NMD zone, its interest has already been demonstrated.

There are new things on the helipad. Moreover, in the form of natural rotorcraft, and not models.

The Russian Helicopters Holding of the Rostec State Corporation first presented the so-called offshore helicopter Mi-171A3. This is his world premiere.

As noted, the latest aircraft is designed to transport people and cargo to offshore drilling platforms, as well as to conduct search and rescue operations on the high seas. The Mi-171A3 has unique transport capabilities in the offshore class. With a maximum take-off weight of 13 tonnes, this rotorcraft can carry up to 4 tonnes of cargo or up to 24 passengers. The flight range of a helicopter with additional fuel tanks reaches 1000 km.

“In the Middle East, interest in our helicopters has traditionally been high. Most of them are aircraft of the Mi-8/17 type, but now the Russian Helicopters holding company is actively working to promote new civilian models on this. In our view, there is great export potential, has the Mi-171A3. interest the UAE, as most Emirati oil is produced from offshore fields. The Mi-171A3 meets the needs of oil and gas companies, both domestic and foreign, and meets the standards of the International Association of oil and gas producers (IOGP),” said Sergey Chemezov, general director of the Rostec state corporation.

The Mi-171A3 is equipped with the latest avionics system, which ensures safe piloting over the sea in the absence of natural landmarks and satellite signals, even in poor visibility. The helicopter meets the increased requirements for ensuring safe flight above the water surface. The machine is equipped with an emergency landing system with inflatable balloons, thanks to which, in the event of an emergency landing on water, the buoyancy of the helicopter is maintained. The evacuation of passengers and crew is carried out on two inflatable rafts that can accommodate up to 27 people each.

In addition, the Mi-171A3 is equipped with modern navigation equipment, a digital autopilot and an air collision avoidance system. A new reinforced fuselage with extensive use of composite materials was developed for the helicopter. The improved rotor system includes a highly efficient X-shaped tail rotor and a composite bladed rotor with an improved aerodynamic layout. Crash-resistant fuel tanks are located in the lower fuselage compartments under the floor of the cargo-passenger cabin, which increases the level of safety of the helicopter.

The rotorcraft is equipped with domestic VK-2500PS-03 engines with BARK-6V-7S automatic regulation and control system manufactured by UEC Klimov. The engine design ensures performance in all weather conditions, including marine, tropical and cold climates, as well as exposure to sea fog and seawater.

The Ka-226T light multipurpose helicopter is also exhibited at IDEX 2023. The rotorcraft is distinguished by its maneuverability and versatility – the transforming helicopter is built according to a modular scheme. The operator will be able to turn a passenger board into a car for the air ambulance or cargo transport by himself in half an hour.

The modernized Ka-226T is a light gas-turbine twin-engine helicopter designed to transport cargo, passengers and service personnel, patrol economic zones, survey, perform search and rescue and medical evacuation tasks. The design features of the improved Ka-226T made it possible to reduce the weight of the rotorcraft and improve its flight performance: increased payload and flight range.

“A feature of the machine is the so-called “flying chassis” concept – suspended modules of various equipment can be placed behind the cockpit. This design solution allows the operator to have a carrier helicopter and several options for modules 4 people can replace the module within 30 minutes. under high wind loads in flight and during landing.

The improved Ka-226T is capable of flying at altitudes of up to 6,500 meters above sea level, while the helicopter’s payload reaches 1,500 kg with a maximum flight weight of up to 3,800 kg,” said Anton Korolev, Deputy Director General of Russia. Helicopters Holding for the sale of civil helicopter equipment.

The IDEX 2023 has just started its work, there will be many other presentations, discoveries and surprises.
