In Minsk, the ballet “Don Quixote” returns to the stage of the Bolshoi Theater News

True, behind this musical masterpiece there are already six editions on the stage of the Belarusian theater. For the first time in Sineokoy, it was presented to the public in 1941, and the sixth, last, edition lasted more than thirty years.

This spring, the agency specifies, another premiere will take place, on which People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarus, Artistic Director of the Theater Valentin Elizariev, conductor – Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Kolyadko and People’s Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Okunev works.

A ballet to the music of a Czech composer, theater critics say, allows for the most amazing metamorphoses: inserting new dances, changing the order of scenes, transferring variations from other ballets, and even composing news.
The marriage of the rich Gamache and the beautiful Kitri, in love with Basil, is told in an incendiary and passionate Spanish dance. Due to the “hot” manner, the production is called the most cheerful – in terms of plot and choreography – of all the heritage of the classical repertoire.

By the way, in Russia this performance, based on the plot of the novel by Miguel de Cervantes, lives for more than a century and a half. And since 1900, when the Petersburger Alexander Gorsky put the Moscow version to the libretto by Marius Petipa, who, by the way, was later transferred to the banks of the Neva, he has experienced a dozen productions at the Bolshoi Theater alone .

And in the Belarusian edition, the theater explained to the agency, the choreography of Marius Petipa, Alexander Gorsky, Kasyan Goleizovsky and Valentin Elizariev is brilliantly intertwined.

Over the years, ballet experts remember, such legendary artists as Semyon Drechin and Tamara Karavaeva, Alexandra Nikolaeva and Valery Mironov shone in this performance. This time the main roles will be played by Lyudmila Khitrova and Irina Eromkina, Victoria Trenkina and Konstantin Geronik, Dmitry Uksusnikov, Konstantin Belokhvostik and Alexander Misiyuk.

On March 24-25, residents of Minsk and guests of the capital will be able to see capricious Spanish dances and a beautiful story of two lovers at the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater.
