The Tesla community is always exploring their vehicles, and lucky for us, they share what they find. For example, a recent discovery by a Reddit user Ultimate_Bulter has revealed an undocumented update in Tesla’s latest software version, 2023.6.8. The user found a hidden icon labeled ‘Manual’ in the vehicle’s infotainment center, leading to Tesla tips and the Tesla User Manual App, which was added in the 2023.6 update.
This app does more than just open the in-car manual; it offers an interactive guide for common questions for Tesla owners.
Two Sections
The Tesla Manual App is divided into two sections: “Get to Know Your Tesla” and “Owner’s Manual.” The former is an interactive guide designed to help Tesla owners become more familiar with their vehicle’s features, while the latter contains detailed information on every aspect of the car.
Get to Know Your Tesla
“Get to Know Your Tesla” contains popular topics related to the vehicle’s features, functionality, and maintenance. This section is designed to be an interactive and user-friendly way for new and existing Tesla owners to familiarize themselves with their car’s features. It includes buttons that, when pressed, can perform actions such as opening the glovebox or activating the windshield wipers. This innovative approach helps users quickly understand and navigate their vehicle’s numerous features.
Owner’s Manual
The “Owner’s Manual” section of the app offers a comprehensive guide to every aspect of the car. This portion of the app includes in-depth information on everything from vehicle maintenance to troubleshooting and beyond. Tesla owners can access this section to find answers to their questions and better understand their car’s various systems and components. The vehicle’s user manual was already available in the car through Controls > Service > Owner’s Manual, but linking to it through this new app makes it more discoverable.
Undocumented Update
The Tesla User Manual App’s inclusion in the 2023.6.8 update appears to have gone undocumented, as it was not listed in the official release notes. This has led to speculation that the app was meant to be a surprise or “Easter egg” feature for Tesla owners to discover. The Reddit user’s discovery has since been met with excitement and appreciation from the Tesla community, which has praised the app for its interactive and user-friendly design.
The Tesla User Manual App offers a fresh and innovative approach to vehicle user guides, taking advantage of the car’s advanced infotainment system. This app’s interactive nature allows Tesla owners to familiarize themselves with their vehicle’s features and troubleshoot issues more efficiently.
As more users uncover this hidden gem within their Tesla, it is expected that Tesla will continue to add tips to the manual app. This discovery highlights Tesla’s commitment to providing a unique and cutting-edge experience for its customers, even in the most unexpected places.
Recently Tesla updated it’s owner’s manual with updated recommendations on the weight limits for items in the frunk and trunk. The new limits apply to all vehicles and go up in most cases.

Tesla China has revealed their Cybertruck-inspired charger, referred to as the “Cybervault.” The new charger was unveiled on Tesla’s official Weibo account, generating buzz among the Chinese public and sparking speculation about its features.
The Cybervault is a weather-proof lockbox that contains Tesla’s mobile charger inside. The charger is protected against theft through a key and combination lock on the side. The side of the unit also features a dock for the charging handle.
The charger is a hardwired version of Tesla’s mobile charger, which supports charging at up to 32A at 220 volts or 7kW. The charger and box weigh 28 lbs (13 kg). You can also buy an additional plug for the mobile charger, letting you remove it from the box and use it on the go.
The Cybervault costs $800 USD, which is significantly more than Tesla’s mobile charger, but it also includes professional installation and a one-year warranty on the work performed.
While a weather-proof lockbox may be appealing, it’s a shame that it doesn’t appear to support Tesla’s more powerful charger, the Wall Connector. At this time it doesn’t look like Tesla has any plans to offer the product outside of China, but if they do, it’d be very likely to come without professional installation in other regions.
The unveiling of the Cybervault highlights Tesla’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Chinese market. The automaker recently introduced the Model S and Model X in China, further solidifying its position in the competitive automotive landscape.

StartYourEnginesX, a YouTube channel based in Japan that focuses on testing and reviewing cars, uploaded a series of videos that put the Tesla Model Y’s through its paces with high-speed riding, double lane changing and wet swing brake tests. The tests were conducted with executives from Tesla Japan, Mercedes-Benz Japan, which also had a vehicle tested, and the Akebono Brake Industry.
Wet Braking Test
The purpose of the tests was to evaluate the Model Y’s wet grip approach when it comes to braking and turning on a damp surface. During the trials, the Model Y approached a wet road surface at 60 miles per hour. Once on the wet pavement, the drivers hammered the brakes while turning.
The video showcased the Model Y’s impressive performance, with technicians giving the SUV a near-perfect score with 4.5 stars out of 5 for its stopping power and turning performance in wet conditions. Additionally, the Model Y was able to come to a stop on the curved course, with the technicians remarking that it performed exceptionally well despite the challenging conditions.
The Moose Test
Another video has the testers traveling at 60 mph and then swerving to the left and then back to the right, essentially mimicking what would happen if a moose suddenly appeared in your lane. Again, the test scored a perfect five stars, allowing the testers to stay in control while performing the high-speed maneuvers. This video is worth the watch just for the poor guy with a clipboard that appears to be a bit nervous but doing his best to keep his game face on.
Other Tests Results
The Model Y also went for a high-speed ride around the closed track. Again, it received 4.5 stars for its performance. Another test demonstrated how fast the Model Y could stop at 60 mph. It came to a complete, under-control stop in less than 120 feet, earning another 4.5 stars. While Model Y grabbed top marks for acceleration with 0 to 60 times coming in under 4.3 seconds.
The Model Y has been gaining popularity in the automotive industry, with its impressive performance and innovative features making it a favorite among car enthusiasts worldwide. Its electric powertrain, spacious interior and advanced technology make it a top contender in the SUV market. These videos showcase why the Model Y deserves accolades and continues to gain popularity in the automotive industry. Don’t forget, it’s also a top safety pick.
