NANAIMO — Half a million dollars in grant money will help see the Albert and Fourth Complete Street Project continue its path forward.

The provincial government announced $500,000 was awarded to the City of Nanaimo through the Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program to help with Phase Two of a bike and pedestrian link between the downtown and Vancouver Island University.

Sidewalks and cycle paths will be added on Albert St. from Pine to Milton St., as part of the evental Vancouver Island University bikeway.

Work will connect with phase one of the project, completed in summer 2022, which saw painted bike lanes and new sidewalks installed along Fourth St. between Harewood Rd. and Pine St.
