ODI World Cup 2023: South Africa qualified for the World Cup. sports news in hindi

Chelmsford. South Africa have qualified directly for the 2023 ODI World Cup after rain washed out the first ODI between Ireland and Bangladesh at the County Ground in Chelmsford.

South Africa became the eighth and last team to qualify directly for this year’s World Cup in India. The Proteas ended their 21 Super League matches with 98 points. Ireland had 68 points before this match. Had Ireland clean-swept Bangladesh 3–0, they would have gained 30 points and tied South Africa with 98 points.

If Ireland had a higher net run rate than South Africa, they could have even qualified for the World Cup. With the first match a no-result, Ireland will now have to compete in a World Cup qualifier tournament against five associate teams along with the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. Out of 10 teams from this tournament, the top two will take part in the World Cup.

New Zealand topped the Super League table with 175 points from 24 matches, while England finished second with 155 points from 24 matches.
